todd Joined: 01/30/2020 Posts: 149 Wellington Phoenix V.12	I've seemed to accumulate to many Launching Pad Pitchers. Pitchers with huge Home Runs per 9 Innings Pitched ratios. Low GB/FB ratio. I acquired most of them thru the waiver wire. My question would be, is there any times where these types of pitchers actually work out pretty well? One of them for instance, has a combined 63 skill points in his pitching skills, not counting stamina. One has the potential for reaching a 20 fastball skill. Others still have more growth potential in them too. Do these types ever work out or should I just automatically jettison them and save me the time and frustration? Rock777 Joined: 09/21/2014 Posts: 10004 Haverhill Halflings Legends	This is the main reason why those guys were on Waivers. I wouldn't put claims on any of them. They might look good on paper, but if they give up a ton of HRs, they aren't useful. I usually avoid guys who have high Velocity but super low Movement, for this very reason. The only thing I can think of is trying one of them at Closer. Velocity is important for Closers... But really that is because you want to keep the Hits down, and it doesn't really look like any of these guys are great for that...

kris Joined: 03/27/2024 Posts: 19 Bethlehem Crusaders II.1	We were just talking on discord about how high velocity pitchers don't necessarily put up MLB equivalent K numbers. When I'm evaluating waivers I mostly look at hr/9, strike percentage, whip & fip. A HR ratio over 1.2 is an auto disqualification for me cause they never seem to improve at any level. If you can keep the ball in the park and get solid defense, you'll compete in a lot of game with a lot of teams.

PrivateSnowflake Joined: 01/06/2015 Posts: 1271 Bloomington Thunder Legends	I'm a little late here but...I only use the ERA/FIP numbers to determine if I need to upgrade my defense. Otherwise, HR/9, WHIP, and BAA for pitching.
