Went SS pool and had a great board! Even passed up a 16 POT!

And why would you pass up a 16 POT, great hitter, amazing fielder? Well, no power, an extreme groundball hitter, had 18 Speed but no history of stealing bases, and just 12 Range - in other words more like a 14 POT, great glove, hit for average 3B. Which is fine in itself.

Also, you could draft this guy. An actual SS who should hit for a decent average and lots of power. That'll do.

Went pitcher, maybe the worst early board ever... three 12 potential and they were meh. Four 9 potentials included. 7 on the board had negative control comments.

Pitcher pool is crap! 2 11 pot's were the highest and both were junk. How are these first rd boards occuring so badly like this

He looks like a fly ball version of https://brokenbat.org/player/354825/T

Whose hitting and plate discipline flat lined and was a late bloomer in the field. Fortunately I pulled a better SS off of waivers.

I hope Jimenez works out better for you.

@Yankee

While I am not a fan of the draft there are definitely long shots after the first round. We scored 5.3 runs per game last year with a 3rd, 4th, and a 5th round picks in our starting lineup (though I only drafted one of them).

Also 2 3rds (1 SP 1 RP) and a 4th (RP) on the pitching staff.

Nearly 25% of my major league team was drafted after the 2nd round.

I've never seen anyone good after the 5th round.

There are sleepers though. I've even seen someone draft a POT 16 in round 8 before. That is why I check every Friday.

The old format was just baseball packs. You got a random player who may or may not be any good. At least with the new format you can actually look at some players and choose who you like best.

@scowley75: This player has a very interesting scouting report. POT 16, but could "only" be a good hitter. Also only an above average slugger and even below average fielder. Looks like he'll end up having BC & PD at 20 when he's grown up.
