I am in a level 6 league. My manager had a salary of 0.95M last season.

This year, his salary jump to a huge 6.85M with the exact same skill set.

We had a good season last year (98W-62L and 17W-9L in the cup) but we still missed promotion by finishing 2 games shy of the division title.

Is it normal to see that kind of salary boost for my manager ???

You very often see that in legends but I'm surprised it happened in the lower leagues. I think that is rare but I could be wrong.
Edit: after looking at him...yeah that salary is absurd. It must have something to do with exp and the 98 wins last season but imo that is a game bug.
I'd replace him asap tbh.

Manager salaries are broken. There was a lot of discussion regarding this in the discord. Closer salaries aren't much better. These factors have caused players to take unrealistic steps like firing managers every season or every other season despite great track records and people using setup men exclusively instead of closers.
Would be nice if salary costs were more evenly distributed. I didn't want to cut my manager but had no choice.

It's totally off.

It looks like salaries are calculated from the previous salaries, including the assistant coach's job.

Manager's salaries are a bit weird.

I have fired very competent managers due to salary. The last time I fired one we were coming off a 99 win season. I would never have fired him but I found a reasonable replacement so that's how it went.

I am one of the owners who does not use a closer. The salary issue is just a side benefit for me. The reason I do it is because my team was chronically squeaking by on reliable bullpen arms and I've developed a committee bullpen system I am comfortable with.

I don't know if they are broken so much as in-demand... My Closer costs 5.6M, and I think he is a steal. My Manager costs 6.6M, and I am no where close to wanting to replace him.

I do think highly expensive players/coaches should get cheaper the longer they sit on FA. Its one thing to demand a high salary. Its another thing to skip an entire season if no one is willing to pay.

I also agree a 6M jump in one season seems like a bug. Especially at LL-6. It would be less surprising in Legends.

I am guessing it viewed him as a Legends manager due to his coach time there.

But that's still whacked.

My guy makes 8.2 million (up against a ML payroll of 33 million). It is bleeding me out.

My guy for comparison:

2057 II 105-55 league 18-10 cup $0.5 mill
2058 Leg 86-743 league 6-14 cup $1.1 mill

It took him 11 seasons (10 at Legends, 8 pennants) to get from 0.5 to 6.35.

Yeah my manager is making 8 something, cut down about 10m of ML salary because we have negative money. Wish I could take a loan from a bank about now (if anyone wants to suggest a new feature).
