jbg Joined: 04/07/2026 Posts: 4 Bronx Yankees VI.31	I'm fairly new to this so take this with some skepticism. I enjoy tinkering with things and seeing how the game responds. Your bats are warm-hot. Pitching is ice cold. I'd say if you've been on a recent skid, pitching is likely the reason lately. ERA slightly higher than FIP, which I believe means pitchers are suffering from fielding issues/bad luck. I will say if ERA & FIP are pretty close, maybe its not worth making a fuss about. Another possible tweak could be changing ballpark dimensions and seeing how that effects things. Im sure rock or one of the vets will see something, but thats my two cents.

Rock777 Joined: 09/21/2014 Posts: 10004 Haverhill Halflings Legends	I'm sure most would agree with the FIP thing, but I go against the grain with FIP. I think its a bit of a garbage stat. It has some utility, but I don't buy into the theory that Hits are entirely the fault of defense. Some pitchers just give up a lot of hits because they are throwing meatballs. For me, WHIP is the more telling number and your team WHIP is last in your division. Looking at your staff, I would put the blame directly on the pitchers. You have a few decent guys, but the Control overall is very low.. If you walk a lot of guys you are inflating the OBP (and OPS by extension) of your opponents, and we all know OBP/OPS is king. Stoll looks like he is past his prime, I don't think you will get a return to his prior stat lines. One other thing to consider is the ordering of your staff/bullpen. I have a good record despite a poor RD this year. This is because I put my ace pitchers at the bottom of the bullpen. When your Sets and Closer are lights out, you win a lot more close games. And when your questionable starting staff gives up 20 runs in the first 3 innings, those good guys get to rest up for when it really matters, LOL. Updated Friday, June 12 2026 @ 4:02:09 pm PDT
