kris Joined: 03/27/2024 Posts: 19 Bethlehem Crusaders II.1	As an impartial observer, neither player is from my team: Garibay, from Pembroke has been absolutely robbed of MVP. https://brokenbat.org/player/329287 It was given to Rosenthal instead https://brokenbat.org/player/369559 Rosenthal edged Garibay out by about a dozen points in AVG and OPS, but Garibay slaughtered him in every other statistic. Garibay hit 51 HR, no other player had more than 28. Garibay had about 20% more RBIs. Garibay even led in walks and took home a gold glove. He had numerous players of the game where Rosenthal wasn't even on the potg list... Garibay had probably the best season I've ever seen any player have for any team in my time here and he was 100% robbed. On another note: The requirement for a player to be in 4 or fewer updates to qualify for a rookie of the year is dumb. It should exclusively be based on at bats and innings pitched to qualify in my opinion.

Seca Joined: 05/05/2014 Posts: 5280 Waterloo Dinosaurs III.1	The only explanation I have for the mvp is triples. I was expecting to see an SB guy. They are weighted too heavily imo. I completely agree with your take on the mvp. The reason the updates count is because players on the big league roster get a training advantage. You could sac a season sitting on the bench (playing cup) and have a leg up in the next season. Might seem a little weird but once you know the rule you can max it. I routinely call up guys for 3 updates and play them in the cup then send them down to keep rookie status for the next season. (I really like the rookie awards).

kris Joined: 03/27/2024 Posts: 19 Bethlehem Crusaders II.1	I didn't realize players had an SI growth advantage riding the pine in the majors. I thought they needed AB or IP. I usually send them down to AAA if I can't get them adequate playing time because I figure they're at least playing every day in AAA. May be advantageous to just leave guys in the majors when the reach a certain point of readiness.

Seca Joined: 05/05/2014 Posts: 5280 Waterloo Dinosaurs III.1	I overstated that I think. Probably small to nothing if not playing at all. Mostly viewing it from the cup perspective. A full cup schedule is roughly a fifth of a season. Could do that multiple times and still be a rookie. That said being a rookie in mlb is not just about AB / IP but also has a service time restriction (less than 45 days). Maybe the intent was just to mimic that. Training updates are the closest thing to service time here.
