Mar 25 2072: York Frogs Win 2071 V.9 East Division Title - by Andreimun on December 23rd, 2025

2071 was an incredible season of two halves for the York Frogs. Finding themselves in last place at the All-Star break, the Frogs underwent a massive shakeup in management, coaching and players which massively paid off. York went 46-29 in the second half of the season.

Some highlights during this run include the Frogs sweeping the Frankfort Ax-Cats in the antepenultimate series of the year, as the two teams were tied for first place. Then, Brett Pringle went 4 for 5 with 3 doubles and a homer, collecting no less than 10 RBIs in the division clincher vs the St. Paul Sluggers. Lastly, outfielder Hugh Glass won the MVP title (despite not being selected for the All-Star game), ending the season with a .311/.380/.446 slash line, 132 runs, and 64 stolen bases to add to the Rookie of the Year accolade obtained in 2070.

Jul 23 2071: End of an Era - by Andreimun on November 7th, 2025

Today, the York Frogs announced that they parted ways with manager Rueben Villareal after 18 seasons in charge. This is the latest move in a recent shake-up that has seen the Frogs, who were last in the V.9 at the All-Star break, hire new hitting and third based coaches and sign a flurry of free agents. Villareal, who started as a pitching coach with York, was in charge for 18 seasons, managing the team to 4 pennants and a championship, and leading them to an all-time high promotion to L2. He will be replaced by 55-year old Claudio Aguirre, until recently the manager of the Folsom Razorbacks. Aguirre is known as a modern, well-rounded manager who likes to build his teams around offense. He won his lone pennant in his 5-year stint as a manager at Folsom least season.

Rumors abound that the change in management was partly spurred by financial considerations, with Villareal's big contract being a sticking point for the York front desk. These changes represent a major shift of direction for the Frogs. Only time will tell what its effects will be, but, for the time being, the team has responded on the field, and has closed the gap to first place to a mere three games and boast an 8-2 record in their last 10 games.

Nov 02 2061: 30-Year Playoff Curse Over: Frogs Win Championship - by Andreimun on October 25th, 2023

Two. That was the age of the oldest player on the 2061 York roster, Jose Portillo, last time the York Frogs won a championship, thirty years ago. Most of the other 2061 III.4 champions were not yet born on that day in October 2031, when the likes of Ulrich, Klein and Brand propelled the York Frogs to their one and, until this year, only championship title. Five playoff final losses followed since then, but the curse is finally lifted: the underdog York Frogs win the 2061 III.4 championship in their first-ever season at this level, defeating the Littleton Genesiz by a score of 4-2.

Having clinched home field advantage by a single game, the Frogs jumped to a 2-0 series lead in front of sellout crowds at the York Ballpark. After Littleton won their first home game, the Frogs struck back to take a 3-1 lead, putting them on the brink with 3 games to go. However, the Genesiz were not to go down without a fight, winning their third home game and sending the series back to York, 3-2.

Game six epitomized the nervy, defensive nature of the series final. The Genesiz scored first in the top of the third inning on a Skaggs single. While Salcido and Gregory were dueling, aided by some excellent defense, it was looking like one of those nights for the Frogs, who left the bases loaded in the bottom of the third and had a runner thrown out at the plate in the sixth. Amato and Russo each left five runners on base, Portillo three, and fans were wondering if the Frogs' inexperience was finally coming back to haunt them.

The breakthrough finally and deservedly came during a four-hit, two-walk and four-run bottom of the seventh. Littleton had no answer, as Galindo shut the door firmly. The Frogs celebrate and are eagerly awaiting their first experience in League II in 2062.

Oct 06 2061: Underdog Frogs Champions in First-Ever Division III Season - by Andreimun on October 18th, 2023

Despite playing in League III for the first time in their history, the lowest-ranked York Frogs clinch the Division Championship with 14 games to go. Sporting the youngest roster in the division, the Frogs relied heavily on young talent in the early part of the season and were holding a surprising lead at the All Star break. Despite this, pundits agreed that a low run differential and many one-run victories probably meant that the Frogs' lead was unsustainable. However, the York bats came alive during the second half of the season, while starting pitching, spearheaded by ace Alcala, kept the ball inside the park with great success, despite yielding many walks. In the meantime, Frogs infielders churned put double play after double play and catcher George kept runners honest with his excellent arm. Speaking of starting pitching, the promotion of Gregory from the bullpen, young Gustafson's strong showing and the astute additions of Croft, Archer and Renner via wavers proved unbeatable. Galindo's closing, backed up by specialists Saez and Lake, was lights out. The controversial release of long-time veteran Sawyer early in the season is now all but forgotten. Next, the Frogs will attempt to break their 30-year playoff curse against the yet-to-be-crowned western champs.

Oct 30 2060: 29-Year Playoff Curse Continues - by Andreimun on August 8th, 2023

The Frogs' 29-year wait for a playoff series win will continue after York's 4-1 loss to the IV-7 Western champions Dallas Dragons. At the end of the day, the York pitching staff not contain the Dragons' bats, who scored 4, 6, 14 and 8 runs in their 4 wins. This caps the fifth straight playoff loss for the Frogs, whose only playoff victory in their histiry came in 2031 in Division V. Meanwhile, the Frogs lost 8 playoff series in their hsitory.

Nonetheless, this loss caps a historic season for a relatively young Frogs side, who will win a division title in League IV for the first time ever. With young talent, like Ernesto Meza (2B), Daniel Amato (3B, SS), Gordon Russo (OF), Ben McBride (OF), Salvador Galindo (P) and Jesus Rivera (AAA - P), coming through the ranks, the future looks bright for the Frogs!
