FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Grand Blanc Vikings Announce Relocation to Blacksburg, Virginia; Team to Rebrand as the Blacksburg Falcons
GRAND BLANC, Mich. — The Grand Blanc Vikings organization today announced that the franchise will relocate to Blacksburg, Virginia, effective immediately. As part of the transition, the team will adopt a new identity and compete under the name Blacksburg Falcons beginning with the upcoming season.
The decision follows an extensive review of the organization’s long-term strategic objectives, competitive outlook, and access to excellent barbecue. Team officials believe the move positions the franchise for sustained growth, increased community engagement, and at least a marginal reduction in unforced errors.
“The organization has a proud history in Grand Blanc, and we are grateful to our fans, partners, and supporters who have stood with us through every triumph, setback, and occasional baserunning adventure,” said team owner
The Rogue. “We believe this move gives us the best chance to not be terrible.”
The new Falcons identity was selected to reflect the spirit, resilience, and ambition of the Blacksburg community. Team representatives also noted that falcons are widely regarded as faster than Vikings, who historically preferred boats and were not especially known for stealing bases.
Fans can expect updated branding, merchandise, and community outreach initiatives in the coming weeks. Team leadership emphasized that while the name, location, and logo are changing, the organization remains committed to the values that have defined it for years: hard work, determination, and the occasional unexpected victory.
Additional details regarding schedules, events, and celebrations surrounding the relocation will be announced at a later date. The organization looks forward to beginning this exciting new chapter in Blacksburg and building a strong connection with its new fan base.
