Woodling reaches 1000, Bombers and Rockets go for 20. -
by Gambler75 on September 11th, 2025
Neal 'Flash' Woodling has definitely lost a step. After years of terrorizing leagues on the base paths, at age 33, the wheels are not what they once were. More of a pinch runner than an everyday player this season, Woodling finally picked up his 1000th steal in a 2-4 loss to league leader Prattsville yesterday.
The day before saw Brockton and Apopka send out 13 pitchers, in the second-longest game in Brockton's history. A 20 inning marathon after normally reliable closer Albert "Cheese" Berger blew the save in the 9th. Brockton would go on to leave 18 men on base over the contest, which mercifully ended with backup 2B Cordova, and backup C Lynch knocking in three runs.
And lastly, team captain, 3B Alberto 'Avispa' Andrade picked up his 41st HR, and 20th steal of the season, tying his career best in homers.

Bright spot in a lost season -
by Gambler75 on October 22nd, 2023
The Brockton Bombers did not live up to expectations this year, and their late season slide from a distant 2nd place to nearly relegating had some fans calling for manager Chase Berman's head.
But it hasn't been all doom and gloom. Neal "Flash" Woodling in his first full time season, provided something for fans to cheer for, with his electric base running. In a season marred by terrible bullpen collapses (18 blown holds), and an inconsistent offense - the sophomore lead off gave Brockton one thing to rely on. His 127 steals ranks #1 amongst all active players, the closest being Martin Simon's 125 back in 2054 for the Tigard Cobras.
With Brockton tumbling in the standings, Woodling put up his best game of the season on October 15th, going 2-2, with 4 walks, and swiping SIX bags in the contest, scoring 3 times in the 7-5 win against Saratoga, stopping a three game slide.

Cardiac kids win streak ends. -
by Gambler75 on August 29th, 2017
The Brockton Bombers best win streak in history came to an end at 14 games, with a 6-4 loss on Sunday. After a decent start by team ace O'Leary, star reliever Cruz Acevedo (2.01 ERA, 0.89 WHIP) finally got beat surrendering back to back doubles followed by a 2 run blast. The 14 game streak eclipsed the former mark of 11 straight wins, set by the then Hattiesburg Wildcats in 2027.
The streak featured six one run wins, five of them 9th inning walk offs. The final four games were all one run Ws. Asked about his team's penchant for the dramatic, first year manager Carl Wells had this to say, "Tight defense and solid pitching is going to create a lot of close games, our offense is still a bit of a work in progress but it was nice to see our guys come up with big hits when it mattered most."
Brockton begins interleague play tonight with the West leading Del Mar Marlins, with both teams lefty aces facing off.
