Jun 08 2072: “Dancin’ to the Last Out” – Austin Ferrari’s Kona Pandas Legacy - by CandiedPark1915 on January 11th, 2026

When the lights go down at Kona Fields at the end of this season, one figure will quietly step off the mound for the final time. Austin “Dancin’” Ferrari — pitcher, ironman, clubhouse spark plug, and walking definition of durability — is set to retire at age 39, closing one of the most remarkable and entertaining careers in Kona Pandas history.

The Record That Will Stand for a Long Time

With 817 career games played, Austin Ferrari officially stands alone at the top of the franchise’s all-time appearances list. No one else is even particularly close. The next names on the leaderboard trail him by nearly a hundred games — a testament not just to longevity, but to availability, trust, and sheer love for being at the ballpark.
Ferrari didn’t chase records. He simply showed up. Season after season. Game after game. Whether it was a crucial bullpen appearance, a mop-up inning, or a late-night extra-inning battle, Austin was there — glove ready, smile on his face.
In an era of careful workload management and pitch counts, Ferrari became an old-school constant. Managers didn’t need to ask if he was available. The answer was always yes.

A Career Built on Craft and Grit

Drafted in 2054 and developed entirely within the Kona Pandas system, Ferrari never wore another uniform. Over nearly two decades, he evolved from a young power arm into a savvy veteran who relied on movement, control, and experience.
His fastball may no longer light up radar guns, but his slider — once described by scouts as “exceptional” — remained a weapon deep into his late 30s. He learned how to survive. How to adapt. How to get outs when pure stuff faded.
That ability to adjust is why Ferrari stayed relevant long after others disappeared. While the numbers tell a story of solid, dependable pitching, the real value was consistency. Managers knew what they would get. Teammates trusted him. Fans respected him.

The Personality Everyone Loved

Of course, Austin Ferrari was never just about baseball.
Nicknamed “Dancin’” for a reason, he became a legend off the field as much as on it. Known for his love of music, post-game celebrations, and team parties that lasted longer than some extra-inning games, Ferrari brought energy to every clubhouse he entered.
He was the guy organizing team nights out. The guy dancing at the end of the dugout after a big strikeout. The veteran reminding younger players that baseball is a game — and games are meant to be enjoyed.
Yet beneath the fun-loving exterior was a professional to the core. First to arrive, last to complain, always ready to pitch.

The Final Season

Now 39, Ferrari has made it clear: this is it. No farewell tours. No dramatic announcements. Just one last season doing what he’s always done — taking the ball when asked and enjoying every inning like it might be his last.
There’s a quiet understanding around the club that when he leaves, something irreplaceable goes with him. Not just innings, not just games played — but presence.

A Kona Pandas Original

Austin Ferrari will retire as:
The all-time leader in games played (817)
One of the longest-tenured players in franchise history
A symbol of durability, loyalty, and joy
Records may eventually be challenged. Numbers may fade. But the memory of “Dancin’” Ferrari — smiling, dancing, pitching one more inning for Kona — will stay with this club for a very long time.
One last season. One last dance. Forever a Panda.

Apr 03 2071: Tough Series for the Pandas - by CandiedPark1915 on October 9th, 2025

A rough week for our Kona Pandas, who were swept by the West Fargo Turtles (0–3). Despite moments of fight, our pitching couldn’t hold back the Turtles’ offense, and runs were hard to come by — just three total across the series.
We’ll regroup, refocus, and come back stronger in the next one.

Oct 26 2070: Kona Pandas End Season in Fifth Place, Eyes on Rebuilding - by CandiedPark1915 on September 16th, 2025

Pandas wrapped up their season in fifth place. The team finished with a 68–92 record, struggling to find consistency throughout the campaign.

A major weakness was the bullpen, which often left the Pandas vulnerable in close games. Both management and the coaching staff have emphasized that rejuvenating the roster will be the top priority heading into next season, with a focus on bringing in younger talent to build a more competitive squad.

Despite the difficult year, the organization remains optimistic about the future. “We know where we need to improve, and we’re committed to taking the right steps,” said coach Horton after the final game.

The Pandas also extended congratulations to Harlingen, who secured a spot in the playoffs after a strong performance.

Feb 19 2059: The final countdown! - by CandiedPark1915 on March 17th, 2023

There's no word that can describe how happy we are with the upcoming season 2059 which starts on March 1st!
Kona Forest Park and our coaching crew are ready for the first pitch, so bring your friends and family and enjoy the game!
We are honoured to thank our legends for many years of playing for Pandas:

37 year old Bill Stanley has decided to end his professional career and now, after 15 years and 2130 games on his account, the #3 draftee from 2041 will train the youngest prospects in our organization. "The things changed", said Bill, "and I made my decision. I have two wonderful kids and I want to spend more time with them and my wife. I would like to thank my playmates and coach Saenz for the last years together. I hope I didn't ever let y'all down, including our fans. Thank you very, very much!" We wish our HoF all the best in his life.

After the season 2058 our starter #1 Albert Lyons was included into the Hall of Fame. He spent his whole career playing for Kona, from the season 2044 when he was the #1 draftee. With 444 games played and 13 years of experience Lyons is one of the 20 pitchers who has played the most games for us with 99 wins and 1855 innings. Albert is very thankful for all years in Kona.

You will never see Pedro Jasso on the field. Our shortstop and true leader with 1755 games and 3.13 batting average after 13 years of playing has joint the HoF and will stay in our hearts forever. But we are glad to announce that Pedro will join the stadium speakers crew and we will hear his voice again.

The last brave man who left our team recently is Javier Godinez. The outfielder has finished 1929 games with white-and-black shirt, and he has played 1116 times as a center fielder. Javier has won the Golden Glove award three times, in the seasons 2051-2053. Javier said, "it's very sad to leaving Pandas. Here is my home and family. I'm turning 36 now and it's time for the young boys to give them a chance. Coach Saenz was like father to me, and I will attend all games in the upcoming season. I hope my kids will be part of the Kona family in the future. Thank y'all for your support!"

New players was picked up from AAA:
- Larry Merritt (#23, LR),
- Joe "Bullet" Keough (#33, RHS),
- Tory Kirby (#8, LF),
- Rob Keefer (#15, LF/1B),
- Dennis Willey (#30, 3B),
- Francisco Quinoñes (#27, OF/1B - a Costa Rica national team member).
We wish our future stars all the best and we hope they give our fans lot of fun!
Our hitting coach Tony DeLeon was replaced with 36 year old Jim Gregory. Thank you for your job, coach Tony!

Commentators also noticed that Gary Daniels has the most games played (1623) of all active players in our roster. The 34 year old veteran is relatively close to reach the record set by Todd Ward, who left our team in 2034 (2264 games).

We can't wait for the first pitch of the new coming season 2059!

Jul 07 2049: Difficult times - by CandiedPark1915 on March 15th, 2021

As many as 5 injuries in the team make the path to any positive result this season much more difficult.
There are short-term injuries like 1-2 days of catchers Greene and Driscoll, but we have also more serious injuries, like Grimes (OF, 9 days) or Warren (SP, 14 days).
We wish our stars a quick recovery, because the fans and the team need them!
