May 10 2072: Woonsocket Waffles secure monumental waiver Claim - by HNKBL on January 4th, 2026
Woonsocket, RI — The Woonsocket Waffles today announced the successful waiver claim of Brendan Ivy, a former first-round draft pick and established veteran with extensive experience at the highest level of professional baseball.
Ivy, a 27-year-old left-handed first baseman, arrives in Woonsocket after spending multiple seasons in the Legends League with the Waterloo Dinosaurs. Drafted in the first round in 2062, Ivy built a reputation as a disciplined, intelligent hitter capable of competing against elite pitching on the biggest stage.
“This is a monumental addition for our organization,” said the Woonsocket Waffles’ front office in a joint statement. “Players with Brendan’s résumé simply do not become available at this level. His experience, professionalism, and offensive skill set immediately raise the standard in our clubhouse.”
Across four Legends League seasons, Ivy proved he could hold his own against top-tier competition, combining strong bat control, plate discipline, and developing power. Now entering his prime years, the Waffles believe his skill set is ideally suited to anchor the heart of the lineup and provide leadership both on and off the field.
“I’m excited for this new chapter,” Ivy said. “Woonsocket is giving me an opportunity to play every day, to lead, and to help build something special. I’m hungry to win, and I think this team has the pieces to do that.”
At first base, Ivy is expected to be an everyday presence and a central figure in the Waffles’ offensive plans. His arrival signals a clear statement of intent as the club looks to push forward with ambition and confidence in the VI.8 League.
“With this move, we’re not just adding a player,” the front office added. “We’re adding belief. Brendan Ivy is here to make a difference.”
Welcome to Woonsocket, Brendan Ivy.
Apr 25 2071: “Trust the Process,” Says Waffles Management Amid Turbulent Start - by HNKBL on October 15th, 2025
The Woonsocket Waffles have stumbled out of the gate in the 2071 season, sitting at 4–15 (.211) and riding a three-game losing streak that has fans flipping tables—and actual waffles—outside The Iron Skillet.
Despite the rough start, manager Shane Church addressed the media with a calm tone and a confident smirk:
“We knew this rebuild would test patience. It’s a long-term plan. We’re building a system, not a streak. Trust the process.”
While fan mood has dipped to 51.97 and the Waffles sit dead last in the VI.8 East, the front office remains committed to developing its young core led by Rubén “The Syrup Flash” Magaña, Bernardo Contreras, and Keith McMillan.
Owner HNKBL doubled down on the club’s direction:
“Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither were great breakfast empires. The Waffles will rise—crispy, golden, and victorious.”
Outside the stadium, local reports confirmed minor disturbances as frustrated fans gathered, chanting “Butter them up or shake them up!” Police described the scene as “mostly sticky but under control.”
The Waffles return home tomorrow for a crucial three-game series—hoping to stop the skid, quiet the crowd, and remind everyone that greatness takes time…
Apr 07 2071: Woonsocket struggles in opening week - by HNKBL on October 10th, 2025
The Woonsocket ballclub opened the season with a tough 1–9 record, dropping eight straight after an early win against Miami Beach (6–4). Despite flashes of promise, the team was outscored 71–26 over the first nine games.
The season began brightly with that victory in Miami Beach, but the momentum quickly faded as Woonsocket dropped the next two of the series (4–9, 1–5), followed by three defeats on the road in Pittsfield (3–8, 3–5, 2–10). The home opening series against Biddeford offered little relief, with losses of 1–4, 2–7, and 3–9 in front of crowds averaging over 17,000 fans.
Manager’s comment:
“We’re clearly not where we want to be yet,” said the skipper post-game. “But there’s effort, there’s talent, and there’s time to turn it around. The fans have been great — we owe them a rebound week.”
Bright spots included C. Dalton’s two home runs and .364 average, and relievers S. Bird (1.13 ERA) and J. Hwang (1.29 ERA) showing stability in the bullpen.
Woonsocket will look to reset momentum in next week’s homestand, focused on cleaner defense and consistent pitching.
Mar 20 2071: Woonsocket Waffles Hall of Fame — Inaugural Inductee - by HNKBL on October 6th, 2025
The Woonsocket Waffles are proud to announce the first-ever inductee into the newly founded Waffles Hall of Fame: shortstop Charles “Chuck” Cooper — a true franchise icon who never wore a Waffles jersey, yet defined our lineage back when we were the West Ripton Jaguars.
“Logos change, nicknames flip, but legends stick,” said owner HNKBL. “Cooper is the franchise’s ironman. Whether you call us Jaguars or Waffles, his standard is what we’re chasing.”
Why Cooper?
Because you simply can’t write our history without him:
Franchise leader — Career Games: 2,459 (No. 1)
Franchise leader — At Bats: 9,010 (No. 1)
Hits: 2,100 (No. 1)
Triples: 132 (No. 1)
Home Runs: 400 (No. 1)
Career slash snapshot: .233 / .306 / .449 with 1,500 RBI
A shortstop with gold-glove cannon (Arm 18), plus range, and serious pop (Power 19) — an era-definer at SS.
Manager Shane Church added:
“Cooper was a unicorn at short: power, arm, and durability. He set the bar for what ‘every day’ really means.”
Now 91 and happily retired, Cooper kept it classic:
“I played the game hard, I loved the clubhouse, and I’m honored the Waffles still claim me—breakfast or Jaguars, family is family.”
This induction bridges eras—from Jaguars to Waffles—and sets the tone for a Hall that celebrates grit, longevity, and a dash of syrupy flair. Cooper is Hall of Fame Inductee No. 1. Many will follow; few will lead the list like Chuck.
Mar 20 2071: Waffles Say Goodbye to Four Legends - by HNKBL on October 6th, 2025
Woonsocket, RI – League VI.8 (East)
The newly renamed Woonsocket Waffles have taken their first bittersweet step toward the future by parting ways with several beloved veterans — players who defined the club’s identity during its darker, Prowler-era years.
Longtime ace Humberto Galarraga, fan-favorite catcher Cam Battaglia, and clubhouse staples Austin Mazza and Hank Hawley have all been released from their contracts.
“These are not easy decisions,” said owner HNKBL
. “These men gave everything to this franchise. They pitched through pain, caught foul tips to the face, and ate whatever passed for postgame waffles in The Iron Skillet clubhouse. But our next championship roster will be younger — and hopefully slightly cheaper.”
